The Spillane Middle School 8A football team was named 8A District Champions after defeating Bleyl Middle School on Oct. 30 at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium.
Nov. 8, 2024—The CFISD athletic department concluded its 2024 middle school football season on Oct. 30 at Cy-Fair FCU and Pridgeon stadiums. Four district champions were named.
Middle school athletics is aligned into four zones, four divisions and two conferences for football.
Zone alignments are:
North Zone – Anthony Middle School, Salyards Middle School, Smith Middle School, Spillane Middle School and Sprague Middle School;
South Zone – Bleyl Middle School, Campbell Middle School, Cook Middle School, Dean Middle School and Truitt Middle School;
East Zone – Aragon Middle School, Arnold Middle School, Goodson Middle School, Hamilton Middle School and Labay Middle School; and
West Zone – Hopper Middle School, Kahla Middle School, Rowe Middle School, Thornton Middle School and Watkins Middle School.
In football, the North and West zones comprised the Northwest Conference, while the South and East zones comprised the Southeast Conference.
Seventh and 8th grade football teams are divided into two divisions each, A and B, creating four divisions; 7A, 7B, 8A and 8B.

In seventh grade, the Sprague Middle School 7A team defeated the Rowe Middle School 7A team in the Northwest Conference championship game, 25-21, qualifying Sprague for the 7A District Championship game.
The Truitt Middle School A team defeated the Hamilton Middle School A team in the Southeast Conference championship game, 34-8, qualifying Truitt for the 7A District Championship game against Sprague.
Truitt faced Sprague on Oct. 30 at Pridgeon Stadium. Truitt defeated Sprague, 27-14, earning the 7A District Championship title.
The Sprague Middle School 7B team faced the Thornton Middle School 7B team for the Northwest Conference Championship title. Sprague defeated Thornton 48-13, qualifying the team for the 7B District Championship game.
The Hamilton Middle School 7B team defeated the Bleyl Middle School 7B team, 19-13, earning the Southeast Conference Championship title and qualifying them for the 7B District Championship game.
Hamilton faced Sprague on Oct. 30 at Pridgeon Stadium. Hamilton defeated Sprague, 12-8, earning the 7B District Championship title.
The Truitt Middle School 7A football team was named 7A District Champions after defeating Sprague Middle School on Oct. 30 at Pridgeon Stadium.
In eighth grade, the Spillane Middle School 8A team defeated the Thornton Middle School 8A team in the Northwest Conference Championship game, 30-12, qualifying Spillane for the 8A District Championship game.
The Bleyl Middle School 8A team defeated the Hamilton Middle School 8A team, 28-14 in the Southeast Conference championship game, qualifying Bleyl for the 8A District Championship game against Spillane.
Spillane and Bleyl competed for the District Championship title on Oct. 30 at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium. Spillane earned the 8A District Championship title, defeating Bleyl, 24-12.

The Smith Middle School 8B team defeated the Kahla Middle School 8B team, 22-6, in the Northwest Conference Championship game, qualifying Smith for the 8B District Championship game.
The Arnold Middle School 8B team faced the Bleyl Middle School 8B team for the Southeast Conference championship title. Arnold defeated Bleyl 25-8, qualifying them for the 8B District Championship game against Smith.
Smith faced Arnold on Oct. 30 at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium. Smith defeated Arnold, 32-6, earning the 8B District Championship title.
“We successfully completed our middle school football season using our championship structure once again,” said Ronald Patton, CFISD associate athletic director. “Throughout the regular season there were several close games within zone play that would determine final seeding. In the end, we were able to award four new district champions in their respective class. All four championship games were action packed and drew nice crowds as they were played at the district stadiums. Congratulations to not only the winners, but all schools involved in the final games of the season. We look forward to next season.”
